Marlins stadium approved!

So what do you guys think about the Marlins stadium approval? IMO im loving it! We will finally have a stadium only and only for football. No more moving around seats or having a nasty dirt field. We will be hosting the Hurricanes football games at Dolphin stadium. I was checking out the Marlins stadium, It looks awesome, $515 million (half a billion) thats some serious stuff. Since I live around the area of the OB I will be looking forward to it. I will aswell record the demolition of OB. By the way as of today 2/24/08 the Orange Bowl letters have been taking down because they have been sold

The OB will be missed. I have the last game at the OB recorded. It was FIU Vs. Texas Bulls (Something like that). Atleast I was able to buy a seat #13. It was nearly $150 (discount )

Marlins stadium approved!

It's about time. Now if only we could keep our best players for more than five years...aw forget it. I guess we should just be happy we have a stadium to watch the major league's farm team. Poor ownership aside, we have a great young, talented team this year. Obviously, we won't do very well again, but if we keep our current team together, they may just mature enough to make a playoff run in the first few years of the new stadium.

Marlins stadium approved!

Unlike you, I do not like the location and will not be attending many games. I spent many years fighting traffic at the old OB and it is awful. Also, I read somewhere that the CIty Of Miami was not selling the letters, in fact, they were keeping them. It is possible they have decided differently with their new stadium project in the works, but that is what I read.

As far as JRS, oops, Pro Player, aw, Dolphin Stadium, I like the idea of no more dirt infields, but the only one who really seemed to detest it was Mare.

Marlins stadium approved!

Football wasn't a problem at Dolphin Stadium it was baseball, has to be one of the worst places to watch a baseball game. Glad to see it got approved!!Now they need to get tight ass Arte Moreno to spend some money to get a high quality team in the New Stadium!! I don't know if you guys know this but the past three years the Marlins made more than any other Franchise, about time they spend some of that coin!!!

Marlins stadium approved!

Hey Finsfan4ever,

I understand what you mean with traffic, but I was reading some of the plans for the City of Miami, it stated that there will be a mono rail or the metro rail that will reach to the stadium. Plus by 2011 there must be highways or ramps that lead directly to the stadium. I know for a fact that its going to be a success. Plus Im pretty sure once the stadium is done you will be dying to experience a game over there.

Marlins stadium approved!

While I am very happy both about the deal and the location, the ball is now on the marlins ownership to represent with some money into the team.  They can no longer use the Dolphin stadium deal as an excuse, and they are getting a major infusion from the public. I know that it is not costing the residents any money, but we are forgoing other things to build this stadium.  It is time (or by 2011) to field a team that will justify our investment as much as Loria's.  We cannot accept willful mediocrity after 2011.  Teams get good and bad, but I want to see ownership trying to provide a decent product.  This is now our team as much as Loria's for 35 years.

Marlins stadium approved!

I always thought Joe Robbie was OK as a baseball park. I saw two games there in 1993 in the Marlins first season. The sightlines were better than most, but they weren't the best for baseball. Another aspect I didn't like about was the location. I always thought it would have been better if it was either in Miami or Fort Laurderdale instead of stuck in the middle. So I'm glad the Marlins are getting a new ballbark in Miami, but sad to see Joe Robbie go away as a baseball stadium. I'm also sad the new one won't be a true outdoor ballbark, but I understand the need for a retractable roof with all the afternoon thundershowers down there.
